Airports

The experience of Scott Wilson's specialist airport team, which spans some 55 years, has been derived from a wide variety of projects ranging from economic and technical feasibility studies, land use and master planning studies, environmental studies, preliminary and conceptual planning, detailed design and preparation of tender documents to the supervision of construction. The Firm has been responsible for airport projects in the United Kingdom, Europe, the Middle East, the Far East, Africa and the Caribbean.

As required the airport section calls on the experience of other specialist sections, dealing with soil mechanics, water supply, sewerage, traffic and transportation planning, roads and structures.

The division's clients have included government departments, local authorities, the International Civil Aviation Organisation, other consulting engineers and contracting organisations.

Project Management
The Firm offers a comprehensive airport consultancy service which extends from feasibility studies to implementation and contract management.

For any particular project, Scott Wilson can set up and manage a group comprising as necessary firms experienced in specialist fields of airport or aviation development; these include architecture, mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering and economics.

Land Use and Master Planning
Land use and master plans provide guidance for the future development of all necessary facilities, landside and airside, at a particular airport. The long-term nature of such plans requires the evaluation of all possible courses of development of the airport and the incorporation of flexibility to enable alternative strategies to be adopted should this be made necessary by changing circumstances.

Feasibility Studies

Detailed designs
Scott Wilson prepares detailed designs and contract documents, including bills of quantities, for all civil engineering elements of airports, reinforced concrete and steel structures, including hangars and aircraft maintenance felicities, with associated consultants assisting with detailed architectural designs and quantity surveying services for buildings, building services, electrical supply, navaids and communications.

Supervision and Management of Construction
Scott Wilson have had considerable experience in providing teams of specialists for the site supervision of all aspects of airport projects. Good supervision has a major bearing on the success of any projects
